Is your office space dark and dingy? Do your customers feel awkward when they arrive in your so called ‘waiting area’? Is your point of sales counter stained or damaged? These are a direct reflection of your company which all have a negative impact on employee happiness and customer experiences. I’m not one to be a negative nancy… but this is NOT a good look!

As a business owner, putting people first and creating a happy experience for employees and customers is absolutely vital. It is people who drive growth, think creatively, innovate and deliver that customer experience. If your employee is happy, then your customers will be happy too. It’s a fact that happiness is infectious.

Let’s just have a little think for a minute…have you been in a store where the sales assistant is in a bad mood? You’ve tried to ask for assistance but been snobbed off? Makes you feel uncomfortable and you will probably leave before you’ve made your purchase. If the sales assistant had of been happy and obliging your experience would have a lot different. You would have felt comfortable, taken your time in store and be happy to spend your money there and possibly even make a purchase you didn’t intend on… but more importantly go back again. Happy people = Happy profit.

Here’s some interesting Workplace Happiness Stats by Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage.

Happy people are:

  • 31% more productive
  • 40% more likely to receive a promotion
  • less absent, with 23% fewer fatigue symptoms
  • up to 10% more engaged at work
  • able to sell more

So now the big question… how do we increase employee happiness? One of the big factors is providing them with a workplace environment they looooooove and where they want to come to work each day.

This is where I come in. My role as an interior designer that specialises in commercial interiors, is to provide environments that are a reflection of your business, brand and ethos and create inspiring and uplifting spaces… resulting in happy experiences for all.

As part of the design process I can chat with your employees to find out what currently is and isn’t working so well. Perhaps your staff feel isolated working in enclosed offices?
